Anger Management
The purpose of the anger management education program is to provide anger and conflict resolution tools to youth and adults who are experiencing difficulty managing anger and stress in their lives. The program will provide skills for coping with these feelings without using alcohol, tobacco or other drugs.
The anger management curriculum was developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is comprised of five sessions, each one designed to address a different element of anger management. The topics covered are:
- Defining anger and its physical, behavioral, and emotional effects
- Identifying personal triggers and developing an anger control plan
- Recognizing the difference began aggression and assertiveness
- Developing conflict resolution skills in order to intervene when anger brews, and to cope with stress appropriately
- Putting conflict resolution skills into action using practical exercises
We supplement this curriculum with hands-on learning through case studies, role-playing and activities that are designed to engage participants with varied learning styles.
